I really missed the boat when it came to carrying a cool diaper bag. I see really chic diaper bags everywhere I go now. Even my friends seem to have them. My boys are 5 and 2 1/2 now, so I don’t have to carry a proper diaper bag anymore. Just an oversized purse to carry all of the extras and the might needs. I actually prefer my backpack because it has two holders in the front which will snugly hold kid-sized water bottles. But I am far from fashionable.

I’ve never been a purse person, and therefore have never owned a hip bag in my life. I actually carried the hideous hospital issued diaper bags for each of my boys until the inner layers were torn to shreds. And I remember occasionally running into other moms with the very same hospital bag. I immediately knew I liked those women because they had as much bag sense as me. My family makes fun of me because of the Winnie the Pooh bag I still carry on occasion when my son’s go on an overnight trip to grandmas. Sure it has seen better days, but who says it needs insides in order to function. Not me.

But the truth is, whenever I see a mom with one of those ultra hip, compartment friendly diaper bags, I secretly envy her seemingly put together ways. And I wonder, would I look as cool?
