Giving my children a bath is no fun. I hate to admit it, but I donā?Tt enjoy it at all. It is definitely a chore in my house. I am so envious of those moms who delight in giving their children a bath. They look forward to it. It is one of their favorite bonding times. I sure wish I felt that way. But I donā?Tt. I dread it, and here are some reasons why.

First, my 3-year-old is a terror in the bathtub. Sure heā?Ts fine once I get him in there. (About a ten minute process in itself.) Then heā?Ts fine again until it is time to wash him. Thatā?Ts when the struggle begins. If heā?Td only realize that it would be over so much faster if he would just let me wash him. I use tearless shampoo. Whatā?Ts the big deal? Get a drop of water in those twinkly little eyes of his, and the real drama begins. ā?oMy eyes, my eyes!ā? He screams while holding his head, as if Iā?Tve just thrown a drink in his face.

Next, my 5-year-old is no better, unless he takes a shower. He will try taking a shower about once a week. If heā?Ts having a shower, he will throw me out of the bathroom because that is his big boy time and heā?Ts gonna do it himself. Fine with me except that he used the soap as shampoo once and got it into his eyes. Now he doesnā?Tt want to take a shower very much anymore. Which meansā?¦back in the tub with my 3-year-old where there is lots of splashing, fighting over toys, and resisting hair washing.

Finally, at the end of a bath session at my house, I look as if Iā?Tve just lost a fight with a monsoon. Bathtime at my house = No fun at all. Iā?Tm looking forward to the age of showers.
